Did I Lose 'The One'?

In a heartbreak & I thought I was doing better, but the last few days I have been fantasizing that my year long situationship may have been the one. How do I cut the ties here? I love your concept of not needing a relationship, but still wanting partnership.

Oh honey, exes of mine STILL come to mind & I am very happily married. The idealism is elusive, but also, I had the opportunity to love & know many wonderful, interesting men before my husband. He & I even talk about one of the reasons we are so secure in our relationship today is because we know what is out there, there's no "what ifs" or anything left to seek because we both lived our lives until we each had a year-ish of major maturing/ascending & then found each other. My point is, it sounds like you are asking for way more than situationships. No more than six weeks in these, definitely never giving a year to these dynamics again. My husband & I were engaged within a year of my last relationship ending. Time is energy. Bend it, don't waste it.
