ogham
Ogham (ow-uhm) is an early Irish (1st c AD) script of vertical linear notches traditionally inscribed in stones, but also found in wood, bone & metal.
The alphabet is comprised of four branches of letters, known as aicme (aykh-muh), for a total of 20 letters. Each letter is associated with a tree, significant in the Druid tradition.
Ogham was used for official records such as names, genealogies, territory markers & burial sites. Due to the layered meaning of the letters & their nature-bound interpretations, Ogham is also used for divination practices & purposes.
